The jealous ex-boyfriend quickly ended up in jail for assaulting the alpha during her night patrol. Elrad admitted he didn’t feel sorry in the slightest, in fact, he felt content the things ended this way. Akhifer patted him on the imaginary shoulder.

The two became close friends, with Elrad supporting Akhifer in her decisions, and the Captain helping the Medic every now and then with his errands. Sometimes the yellow she-carp would come to her friend to ask for advice, since he was one of the very few she trusted with that. One could say that he became her personal alpha’s advisor, although neither would admit it, and Elrad’s official qualification didn’t change. For a brief moment, Akhifer even managed to grow some feelings for Elrad, but she quickly dismissed them, as she had someone else in mind at this point.

The yellow she-carp quickly became wary of the strange male that has been following her ever since she arrived at the park. She did a few rounds around the park, returning to the same spot afterwards, and the man was always behind her. After those rounds, she knew it was no coincidence. At this point, she wished Elrad would arrive as soon as possible. Not that she wasn’t capable of fighting off a male, she just didn’t want to make a spectacle. And if that male tried to do anything to her, oh, it was sure to be a show.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for Akhifer to see a familiar, green-red figure in the distance. She swam up to Elrad, a bit too obvious in her anxiety.

“Something happened?” the Medic asked in a low voice. Looking behind Akhifer, he noticed the strange koi hiding between some plants. “Oh. This psycho. Let’s go.”

Elrad dragged the female by the fin away from the park. They moved into more populated area, with Elrad glancing behind them from time to time. The Captain was curious, as to how does her friend know that man, but waited with her questions until they were safe.

“Who was that?”

It only took two days for Akhifer to recover. Luckily. If she was bed-stuck for any longer, she would have probably gone crazy. She didn’t know she was so… addicted to doing things. She didn’t even know one could get addicted to being busy. It was a really good thing that she didn’t need to rest anymore and could focus on her responsibilities. Or so she thought.

“Good evening! So, how are we feeling, miss Alpha?” asked Elrad, suddenly appearing next to her as she was carrying some papers. She was so focused on discussing some problems with her advisers that she didn’t notice him approaching and was caught by surprise.

“Elrad! I’m good, thank you. And good evening to you too. Don’t you have any patients that need help?” She-carp remarked, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye.

“Not today, no. Everyone’s surprisingly healthy this season.”

“Miss Alpha, do you know that man?” One of the advisers whispered to Akhifer, getting between her and the male. Elrad didn’t seem too happy in this arrangement, but acted unmoved, which was probably for the best.

The day was going somewhat nice, or rather, Akhifer forced herself to think so while her body begged her to finally take a break. This time, it wasn’t because she overworked herself. She simply fell ill and wouldn’t allow any medics to boss her around. Well, until she was caught running some random errands by the very guy who complimented her last time on how she handled a harasser.

“Everyone can see you’re sick from tens of meters away,” he commented. Without asking any questions, he touched her forehead with his fin. “You have a strong fever, dummy, you should lie down.”

“No.” Akhifer swatted his fin away from her. No, no, she was absolutely not going to lay down when there was so much to do. She had her duties as a captain and an alpha, and she had to fulfill them, sick or not.

“You don’t listen to medics, do you?”

“I have a habit not to, indeed.”

She swam past him, not bothered by the upset look he gave her. If he wanted to make her take care of herself, he needed to try better than that. Not to mention she didn’t even know his name, they weren’t buddies, so she had an excuse to not listen to him. Who listens to strangers?

Sick fish, that’s who.

No, no, and for the last time, no. Akhifer was tired of saying the same word over and over again, but the guy literally harassing her just wouldn’t take a hint. He kept asking her the same questions for the past hour. “Can we spend some time together? Do you wanna come to my house? Will you be my girlfriend?” The Captain was ready to snap at him and kick him out of her way, but unfortunately she had to keep her image as a captain and an alpha. She didn’t know how long she could keep going like this, though.

“I would love for you to bear my babies.”

That’s it. That was the breaking point. Dragons knew whether what he was saying was misogynistic or not, but Akhifer wouldn’t hear that out. She turned in place to face him, the fury written on her face forcing the he-carp to swim back a little.
